General Manager

General Managers are core to the success of our business. GMs will manage a practice area or industry vertical, running it like a business unit. Over time, GMs will have a team under them supporting them on sales, account management, administration, product, and other ways they can provide leverage. A GM's main objectives are to turn their practice area into a machine that consistently creates successful outcomes for their team, the client, Tribe consultants, and Tribe itself. In addition, GMs will have a unique perspective into common problems, pain points, and opportunities that persist for clients in their practice area. One of their objectives will be to identify these opportunities and build products and solutions that can be used to solve problems across clients.

You’ll be responsible for

Managing sales end-to-end (80% of your time)
  • Managing key accounts from sales through to project delivery
  • Establishing new business leads and deepening value with existing customers
  • Leading early engagements with existing and prospective customers to define needs and identify opportunity for Tribe
  • Leading the development of project proposals and curating rockstar teams to staff new engagements
  • Understanding conditions for success, ensuring contract is carried out at the highest level, reorienting the project as needed to get to a successful outcome for all involved
  • Fostering strong and trusted customer relationships from start to finish
  • Managing project financials including forecasts and invoicing
  • Building out vertical expertise in an area where we can drive substantial value
  • Building out sales team to execute against demand

Growing new business and optimizing business operations (20%)
  • Identifying patterns across companies and incubating new business opportunities to continue to meet our customers’ needs
  • Assessing P&L across projects to identify ways to increase profitability
  • Reviewing and improving organizational effectiveness
  • Supporting the growth and engagement of the Tribe community
  • Growing Tribe’s core team via recruiting, interviewing, training, and managing talent, as needed

About you
  • You’re an excellent verbal and written communicator
  • You enjoy working at a fast pace
  • You are flexible and proactive to navigate ambiguity
  • You are entrepreneurial and excited about building and managing a business
  • You have past experience in sales, business development or client services. Experience selling services (in any industry) is a bonus
  • You have proven leadership experience and are a team player
